Zhou could become a reserve driver for one of the F1 teams.
The Sauber driver will leave the team at the end of the season and in his statement thanked the fans for their support, and also said that he was in negotiations to retain his place in Formula 1, but as a reserve driver.
I will leave the Sauber team at the end of the 2024 season. And I would like to thank all my fans for their continued support. I am immensely proud to represent my country as the first Chinese driver to enter Formula 1. I hope my career and my example continue to inspire others.
Unfortunately, the last two seasons have been difficult, but I only want to look forward. I am positive about my future and fully focused on getting the opportunity to show what I am truly capable of. "I`m currently considering several options to remain in the Formula 1 paddock and will inform you about everything soon, " said Zhou.
