Heidenheim fans stretched out a banner with the failed assassin of Adolf Hitler. In the 1st round of the Bundesliga, Heidenheim lost to Wolfsburg at home (1:3).
Before the start of the match, home fans unfurled a banner in the stands with an image of Georg Elser, who made an unsuccessful attempt on Hitler`s life in 1939. Elser planted a bomb in the Burgerbraukeller beer hall, where Hitler was scheduled to give a speech. The device went off after Hitler left the establishment.
Elser was arrested while trying to cross the border and sent to the Dachau concentration camp. In April 1945 he was executed.
Heidenheim fans planned to hold this action back in April, on the 80th anniversary of the death of the anti-fascist, but this failed for organizational reasons.
