Zhou Guangyu told how a successful debut in Formula 1 has changed the attitude of critics.


The Chinese pilot in 2022 became a rookie Alfa Romeo. Zhou managed to earn a point at the very first Grand Prix - in Bahrain, he took tenth place.


This was extremely important because of everything that I experienced during the winter break. When my transfer was announced, many people who did not know me judged me by nationality. You`re fighting for your dream, and the comments weren`t the nicest.


I was very grateful that I had my first race and scored a point - I left that behind. I spoke out on the track, which meant a lot to me, as these people began to change their minds. They began to understand and get to know me better, " Zhou said.


The racer admitted that the audience perceived the news about the extension of the agreement with Alfa Romeo for the 2023 season in a completely different way.


Finally, Zhou commented on the first qualifying segment in the third segment - it happened at the Canadian Grand Prix in rainy conditions:


I did not expect this. Canada is a difficult track. It`s like a city circuit, there`s no room for error when exiting corners because of the [proximity] of the walls. So that was great.


I think the result advised by live stream soccer also showed progress, and in a sense I deserved it after three or four retirements in a row. For me, this was a turning point.
